I remember the day that the
Virgin Mary sandwich went up for auction on eBay. I was teaching Cisco Internetworking in my lab at the time, when one of the boys who was browsing (when he shouldn't have been) called out for everyone to see a strange auction that had gone up on eBay... the auction for the Virgin Mary grilled cheese sandwich. Class was pretty much shot for the day as we followed the bizarre occurrence online.
Appearances such as this one or
like Elvis sightings are cultural phenomena that persist. I was blessed recently with a supernatural sighting. ;-) At a recent upscale brunch with
futurowoman and my daughter, we had our cameras out, as is our habit. Despite the too low light (even for the 600 film in my SX-70), I snapped a shot of my daughter's entree. After the Polaroid developed, I realized that Mario had appeared on her plate. I believe that my sighting of Mario is the first of its kind and that many will follow. ;-)
The thing about humor is that it is often spontaneous. That means we don't always have our best cameras or the correct lighting for a situation when something funny needs documenting. The last time I was in Manhattan, I saw what's in this photo. I had only a point and shoot digi. Oh well. Don't be distracted by the hot guy, but, instead, look at the the hand of the second hot guy. You might need to full view.
Anyway... there's a user on deviantART who has some pretty amazing pictures. He recently posted one here on his fledgling gallery. I hope we'll be seeing more from
RavenImaging!
